Venus reached inferior conjunction at 03:33 UTC on 24 October, passing 6.5° south of the Sun at about 40.8 million km from Earth, its closest this year. It is lost in the glare for now, but it moves into the dawn sky fast: on 1 November it rises about 53 minutes before the Sun (Vienna), on 10 November about two hours before, and by 20 November about three hours before, at magnitude −4.8. It peaks at −4.9 on 27 November and reaches its greatest distance from the Sun, 47°, on 3 January 2027. Look low in the east-southeast before sunrise; never point binoculars near the Sun.
