On 5 September Isar Aerospace’s Spectrum rocket lifted off from Andøya in Norway and delivered five CubeSats to orbit, the first successful orbital launch from continental Europe and the first by a privately funded European rocket. It came after a year of scrubs, from a valve problem to a boat in the exclusion zone. Our take: with Ariane 6 delayed, a second European ride to orbit arrives at exactly the right moment.
