Türkiye’s first home-made atomic clock is ticking in orbit

The rubidium clock built by TÜBİTAK’s National Metrology Institute launched on SpaceX’s Transporter-17 on 7 July and sent its first signal on 15 July. It will be tested for at least a year as a building block for a regional positioning and timing system. Our take: every navigation satellite is really a flying clock, and this is the part countries usually have to buy abroad.
