A Falcon 9 lifted off from Vandenberg on 1 October and released 130 payloads into sun-synchronous orbit. Aboard were Google’s Project Suncatcher M1 with four Tensor Processing Units, Starfish Space’s 335 kg Otter inspector for NASA, Varda’s W-8 and W-9 capsules for in-orbit drug making and NASA’s SPRITE CubeSat. The booster landed back at Vandenberg after its 25th flight. Our take: computing in orbit is moving from slide decks to real hardware.
