SpaceX’s Falcon Heavy launched the classified NROL-97 payload from Kennedy’s pad 39A at 03:53 UTC on 2 October, late on 1 October local time, towards a high-energy orbit. Both side boosters landed back at Cape Canaveral while the centre core was expended. Coming after the 30 August launch of NASA’s Roman telescope, it was the shortest gap ever between two Falcon Heavy flights. Our take: the biggest rocket in service is quietly turning routine.
